The Medusa Inside Your Head
…and the Art of Quieting Her
The hissing noise creeps in slowly,
Maybe quiet at first,
And then suddenly, it’s all you can hear.
Medusa has made herself present in your mind.
The Medusa is the part of your mind that traps you
into believing the unreal and preparing for the worst.
She sneaks in, whether you worry about the smallest or grandest things —
your jobs, your loved ones, your finances, your FUTURE.
She is the piranha with her mouth wide open, ready to devour.
She feeds on your biggest fears
but offers no support, no solutions whatsoever
Her noise starts as a tiny hissing sound
of baby snakes sneaking in.
But it soon becomes a full-blown powerful orchestra.
Stop her before she grows too big — before you look her straight in the eye,
and the whole band plays inside your head.
If you choose to stare at her,
it gets harder to stop her.
Hard, but not impossible.
